absence makes the heart grow fonder and more amused

Things I've Missed and Now Relish About Home (in no particular order, mostly whatever I see first):

- the San Jose Mercury News crossword
- a constant abundance of apples
- my retarded dog - and I'm not being socially incorrect. He just walked into my laptop screen.
- mother's fondness of blown-up pictures (24"/18" minimum)
- so many oriental rugs covering so much surface that we might as well have carpet
- mother's various, unfinished projects (that's where I get it form)
- my super firm mattress that is also gloriously wide
- the creepy corner of Jesus paraphernalia in my family room that seems to grow every time I come home
- Milpitas' futile attempts to seem more like a city i.e. random pennants advertising the Great Mall of the Bay Area or a new, excessive library
- Safeway and Walgreens; I'm stuffing my luggage with my favorite organic oat bran flakes when I go back!
