wittle munsters

Well! I've just about had the time of my life this weekend. This ranks just after witnessing the progress my students make in MUN class in the good times MUN has given me.
I like having subordinates. I like being liked. No wonder I really loved my committee. I also love having kids to be proud of though, and I was proud of a lot. Also did some things that I'm not entirely proud of, but strangely enough, glad I did it?
Day one we finished Topic A, the Weaponization of Space. It's terribly endearing to watch these eager kids throw themselves into it. The kids who do it because they're in class are obviously apathetic about it and in it for the grade, but the ones who are part of the club at their school are enthusiastic. Some are actually smarter than some of the people in my classes here at UCI.

Had about 33-36 kids, less people than last year (closer to 100) but just the right size.
I also loved that they were so excited/obsessed with the rivalry I established early on with Ryan's committee, SOCHUM (social/cultural/humanitarian). At first we just marched through their committee to be disruptive on our way to lunch. After that, I tried to be professional, but the little buggers kept at it. They lined SOCHUM's doors with pizza slices on the floor, stole credentials (name tags) and tried taping SOCHUM's door shut (whattafirehazard!). I didn't tell them to do this, but I didn't discourage it either. Might've encouraged them to motion for unmoderated caucus to brainstorm sometimes, or turned a blind eye when they did prank SOCHUM. I tried really hard to be professional and not get in trouble though!
The advisors got suspicious, though, and Christine and Helia mildly scolded me. I never lost control of committee - actually won their loyalty away from their advisors. They loved me, no kidding/not to brag. They didn't have any problems with how I ran committee, and I got a slew of 5s (out of 5) on most of the evaluations they filled out.

I was Director, Calvin was the moderator.
I then won over Nima's committee, DISEC, next door. He wa starteing to get bored with how neutral/cooperative his delegates were being, so he asked me to come over and shake things up. I am nothing if not controversial, hah. I went in guns metaphorically blazing as Israel. I might have yelled at Iran and Iraq. Might have been a little mean to India for trying to be peacemaker. They asked for me back a second time, and I was voted "Most Likely to be Bombed" as well as "Most Neutral" (?) even though I wasn't a real delegate.
Nima and I teamed up again later during lunch. There was a dance competition... I think you can tell where this is going, but you won't like it.
"Has anyone here seen 'Pulp Fiction'?"
Ordinarily I try to not dance in public or at least not while sober/aware. I'm pretty terrible.

I asked the delegates if anyone would let me borrow their shirt. Had to have the shirt!
I decided what the hell, though. It's my last year doing high school conference, and I tried and did make the most of it. Ah, good times, despite/after all the hard work.
