cardinals sin

2009-01-18 8:16 p.m.

Donny and I just watched the Steelers cement their place in the Super Bowl. It was out of character for both of us, seeing as he never watches television, and I never watch sports. Just goes to show how deep the Pittsburgh blood runs!

People always ask why it is that I support so many Pennsylvania teams. I'm Californian, and as I said, I don't watch unless it's by my peripheral vision. The only time I really know what's going on is when I'm home and sitting in the same room with my dad while he's got it on.

Still, I feel like I have a more legitimate claim than any bandwagoners. All of my sporadic attention over the years totals to more than the two minutes of loyalty anyone just started to claim. I know enough: good job Polamalu!

And Clark, I suppose. If it wasn't for Polamalu scoring so that they were secure for the last quarter, and Clark making that other guy fumble (and concussed, unfortunately), I would be in a very different mood.

As such, I can hardly wait fourteen more days! I sort of wish I could watch it with the family. I even miss my sister. Last time the Steelers were in the Super Bowl (and won, thank you very much), we painted our faces with her neon eyeshadow and barbecued with my dad. I can't think of any immediate friends who watch football, much less care about the Steelers or the Cardinals enough to watch with me. I would never be able to convince Ryan or Christine to let me have a Steelers party. Cap it all, our tv is tiny.

Goodness, this is the closest this blog will ever come to a sporty entry.

Who wants to make bets? Arizona is going down!
