three peas in a podcast

2009-01-06 3:03 a.m.

I don't think I've ever seen the british pound looking so dismal!

I suppose this is the best time to buy those new Ricky Gervais podcasts that started airing on New Year's Eve. I don't know the specifics, but supposedly it's a couple quid maximum.

It still bothers me that they're called the "Ricky Gervais Podcasts" when all he contributes is hyena laughter. Even most of the prodding is done by Stephen Merchant. The real gold is in Karl Pilkington, I'll concede. But my goodness, I've never been so taken with anyone as I have been with Stephen Merchant.

There are only about three videos I watch on YouTube, one of which is of Smerch rapping Will Smith's "hit" "Boom Shake the Room". It's an inexplicable turn-on, trust. Skip to around 4.05. I tried getting Ivy to see the light, but she just doesn't see hte appeal. Besides that, I've spent the past two hours listening to promos of the new podcasts, old interviews of Smerch lamenting his bad luck with the ladies (I need to get over there, stat!) and playing freecell.

The last is a pretty bad habit. I remember sitting around dazed on new year's eve, then suddenly figuring it would be a great idea to run to my laptop and play a game drunk. By myself. Ivy looked over my shoulder in disbelief.

I don't feel all that tired, despite making the drive down to Irvine today. We didn't hit any traffic, so for once we made it in six hours. Ryan, Christine and I assembled in front of the television for a couple of hours, catching up and eating the usual junk. The stores still have leftover Christmas stuff, so I got five or six boxes and bags of candy for 75% off. It's an easy guess as to what I had for dinner. I keep waiting for the sugar to make me crash- everyone else that ate sensibly and has responsibilities tomorrow went to bed at midnight already.

I'll sit here another hour, furiously debating whether or not to buy those podcasts. Wish I thought of asking for it for Christmas, damn.
