subs and benderz

2008-12-03 12:02 a.m.

I've given myself half an hour to calm down immensely. Otherwise I would have sounded completely mental, everything would be in caps lock, and nothing would make sense.

I've always hated those indie kids that get horribly offended when "their" bands make it big. They always say, "I heard them first!"

I'm not cool enough to be one of those kids, but now I find myself in that curious position.

When I went to that Bell x1 show last year and met that affable gay in line, I just half-listened as he gushed about the Submarines. They really impressed me with their set and I've been a huge fan since, and converted a few people including Ting and Ryan.

It's been almost a year since Julie and I went to our first Morning Benders show on a whim. There we first talked to Timothy Rabbit and the first seeds of unhealthy obsession were planted.

A couple of months after "Talking Through Tin Cans" was released, it was Editor's Choice on iTunes.

In the middle of summer with the tv on for background noise as I studied, I thought I heard "You, Me and the Bourgeoisie" on an iPod commercial.

Now the two are touring nationally together in an incredible twist of coincidence! And the ONE California show they are playing is a mere ten minutes away, the next town over, in my favorite venue, the Detroit Bar.

I am VERY excited and happy right now, needless to say.
